Summit Great Northern Porter

Summit has several great beers, and I am starting to like this Minnesota brew. It is a dark porter, but it is smooth and not as bitter as some dark beers I have tried. I still prefer the Breckenridge Vanilla Porter over this, but I would give this a 3 1/2 bottle cap rating out of 5. (New rating system, just made it up.)

By the way, I give the Vanilla Porter 4 bottle caps. I am reserving the 5 cap rating for the perfect beer!

Premium Grain Belt

Premium Grain Belt, the beer I drink when I tailgate at the Vikings games with my friends. Otherwise, I stay away from it. Here is one of the funniest beer commercials I have seen in a long time. It is for Grain Belt, of course.

Schell Octoberfest

I recently picked up a sampler of Schell beers. It has six different beers, all with a unique flavor. The Ocktoberfest has a bitter taste, but an overall good flavor. I can't describe it like someone would describe a fine wine, so in beer drinkers terms, it's pretty tasty!
This sampler is a great way to try some of the beers from Schell Brewery.

Breckenridge Vanilla Porter

I recently picked up a six pack of Breckinridge Vanilla Porter. I was surprised at the good flavor of this brew. It says on the bottle that it used real vanilla beans, and you can definitely tell with the sweet aftertaste of vanilla. It is not overpowering and does not take away from the good flavor of this ale. It would be good even without the vanilla, but that gives it a very unique taste.

I had two of these the night I bought them, and that was all I could handle. It is a very heavy beer, but very enjoyable. I highly recommend this if you have not tried a darker beer. It might just win you over and soon you will be drinking Guiness!

Next up...some Minnesota brews.
